Description: Come for the drinks, stay because you're trying to get your host to screw his friend.

Better late than never? Here's another YaoiJam 2018 game, only half a year after the jam is over!
In Come for a Drink you're a nondescript individual who is attending new wushu classes. The wushu studio you visit just so happens to transform into a host cafe at night so the guys can make ends meet. The three main NPCs are all on the older side for a BL game which got me excited since seinen is my jam, but I realized half way in that the goal in this game is not to get with any of the NPCs, but to play a sort of yenta to them and pair up your two favorites, which threw me for a loop. This is not exactly what I want out of games like this, and it turned me off, but at the same time it's a novel approach and it might be appealing to people who are tired of just putting in their relationship coins. It's interesting that I've played some dark, kinky stuff and never bat an eye but felt uncomfortable being a character that was inserting themselves into the love lives of other people. The art is also the sort that emphasizes more nonstandard body types if you're into that, and the character's personalities are pleasant. The writing and art are both what could be described as soft. Even with the martial arts setup the NPCs have a mundane coffee shop quality to them, and even though they're kind of the right demographic of guy that I like in BL games, I didn't find them attractive. And as and aside, I swear to god there are more gingers in BL than actually exist on planet earth.

All that aside, the writing is fine and there's some good humor in bits, which is something I always look for. There are slightly more crackish endings if you aren't into the yenta thing too.

This submission gets big ole bonus points for being complete and not a demo. It also has numerous ends, a gallery for the endings, a ton of cut scenes show up throughout play and there's voice acting, so in terms of features I have to give the game props. The routes themselves are very quick and a completionist run shouldn't take that much, even with 9 endings. The voice acting isn't that bad even, but I also hate voice acting generally so I was glad that that was a feature you could turn off. My takeaway here was that this was a well done game that wasn't for me.
